  • National Small College Rugby Organization and USA Rugby renew strategic partnership
  • Partnership created to continue and support the development and governance of small college rugby
  • Partnership provides massive growth opportunity for USA Rugby in small college membership space

USA Rugby and NSCRO have entered a strategic partnership to support the governance and growth of collegiate rugby within the United States. The two organizations come together to streamline resources and allow the college game to be run with greater efficiency.

With the restructuring of USA Rugby, it has become a focus for the union to work together beside other governing bodies of the sport, to ensure sustained growth in the collegiate game. For over a decade, NSCRO has worked tirelessly in the development of their competitions and championships and their continued efforts to support small college rugby has allowed a broader opportunity for the game to be accessible. They have effectively worked with both athletes and institutions. NSCRO has celebrated individual athlete success through the likes of women's 7s select-side and individual recognition awards along with their men's 15s and women's 7s all-star championships; while also working with the institutions at large to help increase the presence of rugby on their campuses. With small colleges being an important part of USA Rugby's largest member demographic, the union is excited to work with administrators and volunteers of NSCRO on this targeted development.

"NSCRO has been a great partner in the past and we are excited to continue and expand that relationship." Explained CEO Ross Young. "Their work is seen on fields across the United States, and their unique ability to support new team growth will expose rugby to schools eager for a new quality sporting experience."

NSCRO CEO and President, Steve Cohen, states that "this renewed partnership will enhance and support our work to improve the experience for small college rugby. The partnership will also provide the resources needed to introduce our sport to schools currently not offering rugby to its students."
