Meet Our Recent Players of the Month

By Jeannie Feliciano, NSCRO, 06/25/18, 10:30AM EDT

Congratulations to our last three Players of the Month for the 2017-18 season: Jack Neary of University of Maine at Farmington on being selected as the NSCRO/Penn Mutual Player of the Month for May as well as Enrique Brown-Spence of Prairie View A&M University and Leanna Rosberg of Wayne State College on being selected as the NSCRO/Penn Mutual Players of the Month for June.

Neary, a junior studying Mental Health Rehabilitation at the University of Maine Farmington, plays center for his team. Deemed a powerful runner and a solid defensive player who doesn't always go for the try, but rather sets up a break in the line and an offload to a teammate.

He helped his team win "Beast of the East" Champions twice, the Maine Cup Champions three times, named to the Maine All Star team twice and most recently, he was selected to be a part of the NSCRO Northeast 15s All-Star team to play in the inaugural Men's 15s All-Star Championship in Round Rock, TX.

Enrique Brown-Spence, originally from San Diego, CA, is a senior at Prairie View A&M University studying Digital Media Arts. Brown-Spence led in ties this year for the forwards and in extra points. He has been PVAMU captain for the last three years and would be found helping his teammates develop their skills after and before practice.

Brown-Spence helped organize the HBCU Rugby Classic for his teammates to play in.

He was named to four all-star tours (Cayman Islands, Canada, New Zealand and The Bahamas) and more recently, he was part of the LoneStar All-Star team that played in the NSCRO Men's 15s All-Star Championship in Round Rock, TX.

Leanna Rosberg, a recent graduate of Wayne State College, is not new to the NSCRO spotlight.  As captain, she led her team to their 8th NSCRO National Championship while earning All-Championship Team honors and MVP in both 15s and 7s this year. She held the most tries for Wayne State, easily breaking through every line of defense while also performing stellar defense.

Rosberg has been a member of the NSCRO Women's 7s Select Side team since 2017 was also a member of the Prairie States All Star team that participated in the first NSCRO Women's 7s All-Star tournament at Eckerd College earlier this year where she was selected for the All-Championship Team. She was recently selected as one of 25 NSCRO Women's All-Americans.
