Support the Annual ECSU Plunger for Hunger

By Ray Aramini, 01/14/18, 7:00PM EST

“Wait until you see what I wear next year!”

Kodey said this as he climbed out of the Natchaug River last year after his first Plunge for Hunger. He was cold, happy laughing with his Dad. Like everyone else, he was very proud to be part of this event – and like everyone else there, he made a difference.

It is that magical time of the year, when our thoughts turn to jumping in an ice cold river once again!

It is tough to believe that the 7th Annual Plunge for Hunger is almost here. This event has grown from a couple dozen Eastern Connecticut Rugby players and a few other brave souls to a community event that changed the landscape of how those in need are fed and cared for in Northeastern Connecticut.

So mark your calendar! Saturday, February 3, 2018 at noon at Lauter Park in Willimantic Connecticut, for the 7th Annual Plunge for Hunger to benefit Covenant Soup Kitchen.

The Jeffrey P. Ossen Family Foundation has again most generously and graciously offered to match, dollar for dollar, every donation up to $60,000 – doubling our efforts yet again! What a true blessing this is – we are so very grateful for their ongoing support.

The Plunge has a carnival-like, electric atmosphere: Various costumes, crazy teams, smiles and an amazing energy are all there. I strongly encourage you to be there. Even if you don’t want to plunge, come out and has fun. Everyone who is there is there to help – what a great and loving environment.

If you want to plunge, you can download a pledge sheet at our website: Just look on the homepage for a polar bear! If you can't jump in, you can support: look for the “online donation" button and please chose Plunge for Hunger under gift type. Checks can be mailed too - just specify Plunge for Hunger in the memo line. You can sponsor a friend, a team, or just a general donation. Facebook users can donate on the CSK Facebook page.

Every dollar donated is matched, doubling your donation.

We would love to see you the day of the event. Again, this has grown from a small group to a massive groundswell of ongoing support. It’s fun, it’s fast, it’s freezin’ for a reason!

This works because of your commitment to Covenant Soup Kitchen.

Thank you.
