NSCRO players and coaches have an opportunity to attend a free clinic plus a chance to win an all-expenses paid rugby scholarship to England in 2018 through our collaboration with Premiership Rugby.
On September 16, 2017, two of Premiership Rugby’s top clubs, Saracens and the Newcastle Falcons, will play at Talen Energy Stadium near Philadelphia, PA. Oxford University will take on the USA Collegiate All-Americans in the curtain raiser match at 2.30pm.
This is the inaugural match of the Premiership Rugby American Series, the first of several special matches that will be played over the next few years in the USA. The American Series is an initiative between the Premiership Rugby, AEG, NBC Sports and USA Rugby. The five-year partnership will look to integrate Premiership Rugby and its membership clubs into USA Rugby’s major markets.
Brand value, community and technical outreach as well as commercial development for the league and the markets will be the guiding principles for the American Series Initiatives.
This partnership – together with Friends of the British Council – are offering, thirty (30) participants a once-in-a-lifetime, all expenses paid Rugby Scholarship to England in 2018! These scholarships are all-expenses paid for 10 male and 10 female rugby players (ages 17-18) as well 10 coaches who are Level 200 USAR certified.
However, this partnership needs you, the administrators, schools and clubs to engage, support and grow. NSCRO is working with Premiership Rugby and the Friends of the British Council to help make this initiative a success. Let’s have a stellar NSCRO turnout!
If unable to attend a clinic, applicants can submit a video from any of the 50 US States – with details at the link below. Additionally all rugby players ages 15-24 who attend one of these clinics will have an opportunity to win a match ticket and attend a VIP Coaching Clinic on September 16th.
NSCRO PLAYERS AND COACHES – The clinics are FREE and provide an opportunity for a high-level education experience that everyone who is able to attend will benefit from. The selection process for awarding scholarships will be based on a series of criteria. For players, besides having good basic skills, evaluations will be based on the player’s understanding of teamwork, the importance of community service, and other leadership attributes. Coaches will be evaluated based on their commitment to and understanding of the values rugby offers to student-athletes, as well as their overall coaching knowledge and skill and why you LOVE rugby!
We know many deserving players and coaches will not be able to attend any of the free clinics…which is why VIDEO submissions are being allowed and are strongly encouraged.
