Late last week, USA Rugby announced a Restructuring Initiative to reorganize and decentralize resources and operations. This new model allows rugby organizations, such as NSCRO, to better control their membership and outcomes. Refer to the USA Rugby announcement for details.
NSCRO has been closely monitoring USA Rugby's financial remediation and reorganization plans. We will ensure that NSCRO receives all past-due membership fees that USA Rugby collected on behalf of NSCRO and that we understand any implications that the USA Rugby changes may have on our members.
Following several months of planning, NSCRO will be activating a new strategy for our members. The unfortunate financial situation at USA Rugby necessitates that NSCRO now becomes self-reliant, with the freedom, flexibility and resources to continue to grow and enhance the college game. The NSCRO Board will take the following steps for the 2020-21 season:
As we implement our new strategy, we will actively seek vital feedback from our valued NSCRO community to ensure that we continue to serve small college rugby to the best of our ability.
We are encouraged by the swift actions being taken at a national level, and look forward to collaborating with the new leadership in the future, as we are hopeful, and very excited about the strong future of NSCRO and future of collegiate rugby in America.
