Anthony Stewart of Morehouse College is this month's Penn Mutual NSCRO Player of the Month.
Stewart helped create the team at Morehouse four years ago. He was the captain in his senior year while carrying a difficult course load as a psychology major with a pre-law concentration and a minor in film and television .
Earlier this month, he was asked to fly from Atlanta to Sacramento to be the director of photography for a film due to his outstanding ability behind the camera. Although he missed a week of training (the first time in his career), Stewart proceeded to play an outstanding match and scored the decisive try to win over Armstrong State.
He has been a leader in the classroom and on the pitch. He leads the team in yards carried after contact as well as second in tackles and fourth in scoring. Most importantly, he plans to continue his rugby career in law school in Boston and hopes to continue expanding rugby in the African American community after his college years.
He, with seven of his teammates, graduated this month (four of which, including Anthony, graduated cum laude) and will be heading off to law school next year.
The Penn Mutual NSCRO Player of the Month receives a framed certificate as well as a custom NSCRO ball and jersey courtesy of Rhino Rugby.
